When I heard the news of ByTerry, one of my favourite brands, launching a new foundation that was part of their already current Hyaluronic Hydra line, I knew it was going to be impressive because combining a makeup product with skincare, will always get my vote.
So without me waffling on (drumroll) ... welcome in the NEW Hyaluronic-Hydra Foundation Spf30.

This was a highlight of my month, opening this beautiful package from the creator herself, Terry, with a personal note. *magical.

BY TERRY Hyaluronic Hydra-Foundation Spf30 | €54/£49 30ml (buy here)
A foundation which is infused with hyaluronic acid and works to perfect and hydrate the skin with a very lightweight buildable coverage and protects with SPF 30. The formula is luminous, weightless and floods skin with moisture, delivering seamless coverage with an ultra-fine texture. It suits all skin types and is a particularly good foundation for dry skin, working to plump out wrinkles and fine lines and create a matte luminous finish. With light-reflecting pigments to create a lit-from-within allure.
THE BY TERRY FORMULA
By Terry products are always unique being part skincare and part makeup. In case you didn't know, Hyaluronic acid traps moisture like a magnet, locking it into the skin hence why we all want it! A special ‘Skin-Fit’ technology controls shine and makes the formula lightweight and long-wearing, while delivering the comfort of a second skin. Vegan formula with no animal-derived ingredients.

I loved the actual packaging from seeing the first ad campaign as the imagery is just stunning! It is sleek, elegant and sophisticated ... just like all of By Terry. The glass bottle is recyclable and the dropper application has been specially designed so you get every last drop of your makeup. The fluid texture means that nothing will get stuck inside the bottle because we all know how many tubes or bottles you end up cutting open just to get value for money.

HOW TO WEAR
Use the dropper and simply use as much or as little as needed! You can apply in any way you like .. fingers, sponge, brush ... anything goes. I like to use a buffing brush then go over with a beauty blender sponge as I do all my bases. (You actually get a mini hydra-powder and Sponge as above FREE when you currently buy any full-sized item from the hyaluronic range!).
COVERAGE GUIDE
• 2 drops for sheer coverage
• 4 drops for medium coverage
• 6 drops for full coverage

I know a lot of people were anxious about the shade range like with all foundation launches, but this seems really well done I have to say and covers skin tones and undertones. ByTerry has categorised shades into undertones so you can get the best match possible with a choice of Cool, Neutral and Warm variations of your chosen skin tone shade. This eliminates the issue of a shade being too pink, too ashy or too yellow looking.
I was sent over all three undertones in my skin shade 200 which were all pretty wearable to be fair but 200N is my perfect match although I can get away with 200C also, but is just a tad lighter than I like. I always tend to opt for the neutral undertones usually and wear shades B20 in Chanel, 4N in Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush and 4 in Armani LS.

You do need to work quickly with the gorgeous, serum-like fluid because it dries quickly but will take you seconds to blend. Unlike other bases, you don't have to be precise because the formula is so buildable, you can just add to the areas you feel you need more coverage and not feel like you have too much on and need to remove for instance. It does give a soft, matte finish yet doesn't go cakey or dry at all because this is part skincare remember so your skin will just lap all the hydrating benefits up! I find I use between 4-6 drops for a full face but then less should I just want a subtle tint. As I said, my perfect shade is 200N ...

I knew there was a good chance that I would like this foundation and the more I have worn it, which has been most days, the more I have fallen in love with it. The finish was a lot more matte than I expected but because of the hyaluronic acid, it doesn't feel dry which is magic. If you are very dry then I would suggest using the Hyaluronic-Hydra Primer underneath for an extra moisture hit and a very hydrating moisturiser prior to application. All other skins will love it because it is so adaptable and you can add in your favourite primers etc alongside it and finish with the Hyaluronic Hydra-Powder for the ultimate flawless skin. If you like full full coverage then this may not be enough for you but I would still say try it because that look of wearing a thick makeup mask is never great. You can see from above (with no touching up!) how good my skin looks wearing this; it looks healthy and radiant, very smooth, not shiny, not too matte ... and the longer it wears, the more glowy you become, but not in an oily way, but in a healthy glow kind of way. On close inspection at the end of the day, it still looks as good then as it did in the morning, just with an extra added glow which made me like it even more.
Like the Hyaluronic Hydra-Powder, I find that this also has the same magical ability to blur lines and make your skin look airbrushed. I love that it has spf30 which is a great everyday protection and even though I do actually double on and use my spf50 spray over the top, it's great if you ever get caught out plus thankfully I don't think it creates any flashback or white cast whatsoever in pictures.

In short, this is a very buildable, lightweight foundation for all skin types that will flood your skin with benefits of Hyaluronic acid to keep it hydrated and feeling comfortable all day/night. Gives a natural, soft matte finish that leaves you protected and making every day a good skin day. In my opinion, it is 100% worth the try.
