The famous "Elnett" hairspray by L'Oreal has been a superstar now for over 50 years and probably the oldest and most well known beauty secret of many of us. It's adored by many a celebrity hairdresser, make-up artist and beauty professional as I can admit I have used this for many years, since my teenage years. It's the only hairspray I use and anyone that knows me shall vouch for that. It is certainly a beauty staple of mine and shall always be no doubt.

L'Oreal have just recently launched a new family member to accompany their famous Elnett hairspray, something I got very excited about when I spotted in my local store here in Monaco.


NEW Elnett Heat Protect Styling Sprays are specially adapted to your styling routine, they protect against heat damage caused by hair-dryers, straighteners and curling irons. The advanced formulas have up to 230° heat defence and lock-in straight, sleek or wavy styles for up to 3 days. With protection from frizz and humidity they help smooth straight hair and give definition to soft curls.

There is a choice of three sprays, straight, volume and wavy, depending on the style you are wanting to achieve. Just spritz onto damp or dry hair before heat styling.

I purchased the straight version as I rarely wear my hair any other way than straight and my hair is naturally straight anyway, it just needs some sleekness and some body adding to it. I noticed it stated 'anti-frizz' too which was a big selling point as I do suffer from 'cottonwool hair' in humid climates.

The packaging is beautiful as that's what initially caught my eye. The pump spray on the bottle has a handy safety cap on the side to stop it accidentally going off in your bag. The spray itself comes out in a fine mist that's evenly splayed and has the same lovely scent as the hairspray.  It is extremely lightweight and does not weigh the hair down as I have fine hair and had no trouble as some products can give that feeling of heavy product in the hair. Its very easy to mist the whole of your hair in just a few sprays.

 After using this product my hair felt extra straight, sleek, soft, shiny but still with some body to it. The next day it still looked straight as when you have fine hair it tends to go flat and mould into the shape of which you slept in the following night (not good) but this left it looking presentable still. I do think you can get three days out if it if you have thicker hair as I would feel the need to wash mine before.

 So, is it 'worth it'? 

Yes, it certainly is and gets a very big thumbs up from me.
When it comes to heat protection sprays, I have personally found in the past that the more expensive brands don't necessarily work any better, in fact I actually prefer the lower priced ones like Tresemme or Aussie. The difference with this Elnett heat spray is that not only does it protect your hair but it styles it too making this a well priced, multi-purpose product that works! If you are a lover of Elnett hairspray then you shall love this as they make the perfect pairing.
