MAC Giambattista Valli Lip Collection
MAC have gone and done it again and quite frankly 'totally nailed it' with the recent launch of The Giambattista Valli collection, the latest hotly anticipated lip collection released about two weeks ago and I for one was stalking the U.S. MAC counters for this one. MAC have collaborated with couture fashion designer, Giambattista Valli to create a very small collection of lip shades, being just 5 in total with one lip gloss which are all inspired by the designers signature style and love for floral and bold colours. 

"The best thing about make-up is that a lipstick can really change your look. If you never wear colour on your lips and then one day you wear red, everyone just goes 'wow!" - Valli. I for one agree totally!

Couture fashion designer, Giambattista Valli brings his elegance and celebration of the female form to a collection of timeless lipsticks. A mix of pale pink, coral, peach, regal red, dark cherry and a crystal gloss to add a chic touch by transforming any matte lipstick with a pearlescent finish. The idea is to wear them together in an ombre affect (aswell as alone) hence why the shades all transition into similar tones, just like that of a flower.

I got to the MAC counter on the second launch day and it was nearly all sold out entirely so this is one hot collection. MAC lipsticks are actually my all time favourite lipsticks as they never disappoint and the choice of shades is endless. I chose the shades Tats, Charlotte and Lena Gloss as they were what I had my eye on initially. I was wanting Bianca B but on close inspection it's a very white pale pink, so on me this is not so flattering.

 I have taken photos and swatches inside and outside so you can see the brightness of colour in a more true light.

Tats is a matte, bright hot pink shade that applies really smoothly and for a matte lipstick is really creamy which gives you time to work with it. It is very opaque and very bright so definitely a feel good lippy. I love it!

Charlotte is a matte, rich yellowish red shade which again is very opaque and intense (reminds me a little of Russian Red). In the bullet it looks a lot darker than what it actually is but this is a true red as my swatches show below. It is a very bold red lipstick that would suit lots of skin tones and you can't beat a classic red lip.

Lena is a clear high shine gloss with a real pearlescent finish that transforms any matte into a glossy lipstick. I don't normally go in for these kind of glosses but this one gives the most amazing finish so I just had to buy it. It's so gorgeous and not at all sticky and I don't actually mind that its in a pot as opposed to a tube.

How stunning is the packaging?! I think it's super stylish and beautiful and it is the first time that MAC have changed their bullet colour to match the lipstick shade inside. I love it and wish they did it all the time as it makes finding one inside your makeup bag a whole lot easier, especially when you are carrying a few shades like you do!

The formulation of these lipsticks is very creamy so they apply really easily but still give you a gorgeous matte finish and don't feel drying on the lips at all. Being so pigmented they do stain the lip like most lipsticks do but comes off easily when removed with some make up remover. I think this is one of MAC's best collections yet and by keeping it small and limited, I think makes a collection more exciting as there is less to decide upon. I wished I had got Margherita, the bright peach shade but I have so many other similar ones that I decided against it. Damn it! My advice is if you see this collection and like it then buy it as it won't be around for long, if not sold out already so be quick!
